Lesson: Parachutes, Candy and the Great Uncle Wiggly Wings (Elementary)

Posted on April 6, 2020 at 3:45 PM by Virginia Smith

This lesson is the story of 1st Lt. Gail Halvorsen, a U.S. Air Force pilot who dropped candy by parachutes after World War II. This activity covers the construction of a toy parachute and the story of how little parachutes brought joy and happiness to thousands of German children after the end of WWII. The primary hands-on objective is to build one or more parachutes that can carry a miniature chocolate candy bar. Find the lesson in CAP's AEX I Vol II book or click this link HERE.
